We follow the model laid out by the Miai Foundation for Sustainable Intellectual Works (SIW) as closely as possible. Specifically this means all of our commerical development meets the foundation's certification requirements, a condition of our certification by them. In summary they are:
1. All source code and related material is available for research and personal learning purposes to everyone free of charge.
2. While we reserve the right to be rewarded for our efforts we are limited in the manner which we may ask for that reward. Specifically you the user can meet your obligation by work in kind or payment of fees. These fees are guaranteed not to change for arbitrary reasons, see the license we license all or products under. For simplicity we do ask for payment of the initial fees (if any) up front and then we will happily refund and/or even pay out more then the value of the fees to you for work in kind.
3. All of our products are open for user modification, including repacking them and/or making them a part of a larger product. The only thing we require is that if you get rewarded monetarily for your work that you meet your obligation to us monetarily also.
4. Our license mandates us to treat any work done in kind as if it was done by one of our in-house developers. Namely you become a partner in the project when you contribute to it.
5. There are some other minor but important advantages to the model and we invite you to explore Miai's site and our primary license for details.
Our managing partner is one the founders of the community that created the Miai Foundation, and he is currently the vice president of the Foundation.
